Riding this week was held back by windy conditions. Once the wind speed hits the 40-50kph strength, cycling into it is not good. Nor is a 45 kph cross-wind. Riding it as a tailwind is bloody brilliant but not enough not make up for the rest !

Born in 1946 I learnt to cycle about 10 years later. On a bike with rods connecting brake levers to the brakes - anyone remember those?
I emigrated to Australia (from the UK) in 1974 and moved to Tasmania in 1984.
Bicycles were in my life for most of that time although sometimes they were replaced by motorised two wheels for a bit more excitement. On reaching 70 I decided to stick to pedal power but in 2019 an electric recumbent made an appearance.
it's now 2023 and I have 3 bikes. 2 e-recumbents and the Brompton.

My cycling has been linked to various caravan trips for the past few years. The Brompton travelled really well in the back of the car and on the road. We have now sold the caravan and purchased a tent! At our age most people sell their van and get a bigger one but, for various reasons, we haven’t used the van much over the past 2 years and decided to let it go. This will also allow us to consider the purchase of a small car to replace the ageing X-Trail now we don’t need a tow vehicle.
